Welcome to the revit forum.
Inside revit i ve got some simple models that show these concepts.
Then select the line style you want to represent the roof overhang in the view.
Why do i not get the option for a roof overhang.
Two models are essentially the same right now.
In the properties dialog box for the view you want to see the overhang lines in set the underlay drop down to be the level on which the roof was created.
One option is adjusting the overhang and the other is.
On the properties palette enter a value for overhang.
When editing the footprint of a roof modify properties of its boundary lines to change the roof overhang.
The wall section above right which by the way is from my recently published book residential roof design using autodesk revit shows an overhang of one foot six inches.
We could of course just draw these on the appropriate floor.
Help menus says its there.
We ve got a six on twelve pitched hip roof except i put nine on twelve on the ends.
Look at the option bar.
Click finish edit mode.
After creating a roof you can change its shape or overhang cut openings or align ridges.
In sketch mode select a boundary line for the roof.
See attached what am i doing wrong.
Now the next step is to select the linework tool from the modify tab view panel.

Edit the roof sketch select the roof and click modify roofs tabmode panel edit footprint or edit profile.
There are many situations when you need to show the outline or boundary of overhead elements on your plan views.
W e have this dual pitch tip condition.
This is measured from the exterior face of the wall s studs telling us that the extend into wall to core option was checked.
