For creating complex roof it might be easier if you create separate roof then use join roof tool to join them later.
Revit join two gable roof at different height.
The second works for all roof types.
Use sloped edges or a slope arrow on a roof to create sloped roof elements.
Draw geometry similar to below and select all but 3 top edges as shown.
This video demonstrates the following.
Then follow these 2 steps.
This is an awesome undocumented trick that you d never learn without many trial and errors if ever at all.
The first method works only for gable or shed roofs but not hip roofs.
Use it to extend the dormer roof to the main roof.
There are 2 ways to extend the roof parallel to a ridge.
Using shape editing tools.
The roof with the lower eave height would require a roof slope pitch greater that the roof with the higher eave height.
On the properties palette specify a value for offset from roof base or plate offset from base.
Sloped edges on a roof sketch line create a sloped roof.
Extend roof parallel to ridge.
To create a dormer model required walls and additional roof.
You can use height or slope value specify the method and the constraint values from properties palette.
While in sketch mode select a slope defining boundary line.
Then draw the arrow to define the slope direction.
Thx the only way to have an off centered peak with the same slope on both sides is to have one eave higher than the other.
9 join roofs add opening to create dormer.
Method 1 gable roof with offset ridge.
The only work around i was able to come up with was draw two different roofs but i m wondering if there s anything i m just missing in the roof edit properties.
After creating a roof you can adjust the height of the eaves.
Use join unjoin roof tool.
This tool is located in the modify tab.

This video was recorded using revit 2012.
To keep the ridge line centered on the structure and have 2 eaves at different heights with identical overhangs you would have to have 2 different roof slopes.
Define a sloped edge to a sketch line.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 to.
Change the slope angle of the roof.
