Revit cut roof with wall.
If anyone is still looking for a solution you can make a roof cut into an existing roof using component model in place.
This is relatively simple.
However problem arises please have a look at the attachment pic.
You can cut openings in the faces of these elements or you can select the entire element to make a vertical cut.
Create a void extrusion and make to required cut in the new construction phase apply the cut and done.
Click by face or vertical.
Cut with voids when loaded.
Use one of the opening tools to cut a vertical or perpendicular opening in a roof floor or ceiling for example to accommodate a chimney.

Measure the full width of the outside wall.

Have been learning revit for around 2 weeks and having some fun.

For most buildings the birdsmouth cut is 4 inches 10 cm deep.
Determine the depth of the birdsmouth cut.
Click modify tab geometry panel cut drop down cut geometry.
This should keep you existing roof in tact and show a cut in the new construction phase.
I was able to join the roofs by the join command however there was no cutting at the intersections between the roofs at the main.
The width of the 2x4 used to frame the outer wall measures 3 5 inches 8 9 cm and the outside sheathing measures 1 2 inch 1 3 cm.
Load the family into the project and place it.
In the family category and parameters dialog select cut with voids when loaded and click ok.
I have been trying to cut a intersect roof yesterday and got struck all day.
