Slide the zip tool along the bottom edge to release the vinyl siding from the piece below it.
Replace 1 piece of vinyl siding.
If you only remove one piece you might be able to cover the area with a tarp to protect it until you replace the piece.

Be sure to leave a bit of space between the nail heads and the siding so the vinyl can expand and contract as necessary during temperature fluctuations.
Remove a piece of the nailing strip and on the back to allow for expansion and contraction.
Starting at one end of the damaged piece push the end of the zip siding removal tool up under the siding until you feel it hook the bottom lip.
If the piece of siding that you re replacing doesn t extend all the way from one corner of the wall to the other cut the replacement piece 2 inches longer than the bare area on the wall.
Near the old nail holes every 16 or so hammer 1 1 4 roofing nails into the new piece of siding to hold it in place.
Hang new vinyl siding or some other type of siding as soon as possible to avoid damage to the exterior wall of your house.
Measure the area you uncovered so you know what size replacement piece you need.
To lock the final piece in place use a zip tool.
