With every day use the gel coat loses a little shine and surface scratches reduce the luster of cultured marble.

This combination creates a highly moldable and extremely hard polymer. Cultured marble is made from powdered marble that has been cast in polymer and covered in a gel coat. Cultured marble vanities are easy to clean and offer the appearance of more expensive stone. It is less expensive than regular marble but takes on the same look.

It is possible to renew the finish on a cultured marble sink and restore its appearance. Marble alone is very porous and would stain easily if installed alone. If you use abrasive cleaners however you can scratch the shiny gel coat surface of the cultured. Cultured marble is a countertop made from a combination of resin and marble dust.
