Protein stains on your carpet such as cat urine or spilled milk pose a cleaning challenge. Repeat treating the stain with liquid detergent then with white vinegar until you ve removed as much stain as possible. Pretreat it with a liquid laundry detergent using an up and down motion with a soft brush to break up the stain. Sponge with white vinegar and rinse again.

Apply the mixture to the stain with a cloth. Use white paper towels to do this so you can easily throw the soapy paper towels away. Let the solution dry then vacuum. Mix 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent with 1 tablespoons of white vinegar and 2 cups of water.

Rub light carpet stains with a mixture of 2 tablespoons salt dissolved in 1 2 cup white vinegar. Let the area dry and then vacuum the area. Dawn liquid dish soap effectively cuts through grease making it suitable for removing greasy carpet stains. Step 2 spray warm water over the laundry detergent.

If the stain remains repeat the process but add 2 tablespoons of borax to the mixture. Pour a mixture of 1 4 teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent and 1 2 cup cold water onto the soft drink stain and blot up the stained area again using another clean dry cloth. Put detergent solution on stain. Allow the area to dry fully.
